  8. Prepare 1/2 cup milk
  9. Get 10 oz shredded cabbage
  10. Get 1 cup (4 oz) shredded swiss cheese
Steps to make Potato Cabbage Casserole:
  1. Put potatoes in a pot. Add enough water to cover potatoes. Cook over medium heat for 30 minutes.
  2. Fry chopped bacon in a large skillet until brown & crisp. Remove fried bacon to small bowl using a slotted spoon, reserving 2 tbsp pan drippings.
  3. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray a 3 qt baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  4. Add reserved drippings to skillet over low heat. Stir in onion powder, flour, thyme, & salt. Add broth & milk. Mix well. Cook over low heat, stirring continually, until sauce has thickened.
  5. In prepared baking dish, layer cabbage, potatoes, bacon, swiss, & sauce one half at a time. Repeat layering.
  6. Bake, covered, for 30 minutes. Remove cover. Bake until cabbage is tender, about 15 minutes.
