Sheera (or Halwa) is a typical Indian sweet dish made with semolina (known as either "rava" or "sooji" in India). It is sweetened with sugar and flavored with aromatic spices, nuts and raisins. Steps to make Suji/Rava/Semolina Sheera::
  1. Heat ghee in a pan/kadai. - Add suji/semolina to it and stir it continuously on medium heat.
  2. Saute suji for about 8-10 minutes. It will start releasing aroma and will change the colour.
  3. In the meanwhile, while the suji is being roasted boil the milk.
  4. The suji is now roasted. Now, - add the hot milk to the suji slowly. Stir the mixture continuously till it thickens.
  5. Now add the sugar to the mixture and mix it.
  6. Add the cardamom powder and mix well.
  7. Cover the suji mixture and cook for 5 minutes on low heat.
  8. Remove the lid and stir the mixture.
  9. The Suji Sheera is ready. At this stage you can add the chopped dry fruits and mix it.
  10. Now turn it upside down on a plate and unmould the sheera. Garnish with chopped nuts and serve.
